Before talking about software, it is necessary to underline the importance of data. In the past, and even more in the future, data represents the lifeblood of the entire digital ecosystem. The data is real, exists and changes. Digital native companies are already data-centered. All the other companies will have to make significant investments on data management. this to avoid the risk of being excluded from entire business models. Over 30 years ago William Edwards Deming understood it very well. Deming was a pioneer of total quality, of whom we like to remember a valuable quote: “Without the data you are just another person with an opinion”. Our specialists are aware of the importance of data, and this knowledge is reflected in the ability to develop optimized software. Our attention is aimed at the ability to develop and use resources in the most economical and suitable way. We train our people to make algorithms efficient and to manage the available space in the best way. The same way we did a few decades ago, when the available resources were much more limited. Think, for example, of the personal computers equipped with the MS-Dos system and the simple 640 KB of RAM available to load the executable modules, or the huge tapes needed to power the large systems of the 70s and 80s. This for us becomes a contribution to saving physical and energy resources and therefore a greater sustainability.

We believe that the Digital Transformation process should focus on people and technologies. So that we can create and plan new interactions between users and environment, both in the physical and digital world. We believe that user experience (UX) should not be limited to the digital world, instead, it should start from the study of actions and choices that the user makes everyday. Service Design is “the orchestration of technologies, people and processes that makes the user experience possible” (Nielsen Norman Group). The approach we use in the design of products and services is user-centered: through the methodology of design thinking we reiterate the entire design process, from the analysis to the design of wireframes, mockups and prototypes. We continuously improve deliverables and promote an effective and functional user experience.

Sustainability: in the environmental and economic sciences, a condition of a development capable of ensuring the satisfaction of the needs of the present generation without compromising the possibility of future generations to meet their own needs (cit. Treccani). This is a theme that is very dear to us: the training we provide to our colleagues has a special attention to environmental sustainability. Our people are well aware of all the aspects of sustainable software development: the algorithms are brought to maximum efficiency and the usage of physical and energy resources is reduced to the minimum. We know the value of sustainable mobility very well, we encourage the smart working and the use of low-consumption means of locomotion. Everything we do goes in this direction: we always look to the future.

The Academy is a key stage on our path. It can be seen indifferently as the arrival or departure station; our path wants to constitute a virtuous cycle. We want our employees to think big. The experiences of our teams are shared and become a subject of study. During the training course, specific ‘case studies’ involving the entire classroom are presented. It is time for a total brainstorming that involves all the people, generates further insights and ends with a convivial moment.
